Police have said they have adjusted the recruitment exercise of probation constables in 20 districts over the forthcoming national population census.

Uganda will conduct the national housing and population census starting on May 10 for 10 days.

In a statement on Saturday, the deputy police spokesperson, Claire Nabakka announced that the interviews for shortlisted applicants in 20 districts will be rescheduled to allow for the census.

The Police probationer interview dates of shortlisted applicants earlier scheduled from 10th May to 12th May 2024 are adjusted as per attached program due to the #NationalCensus activity. The days from May, 6 to  9 remain un affected,” Nabakka said.

The earlier schedule by police indicated that interviews would be carried out in the districts of Mukono, Amolatar, Pallisa, Mayuge, Karenga, Katakwi, Koboko, Yumbe, Lyantonde, Otuke, Buvuma, Ntungamo, and Nabilatuk, among others, on May 10, 2024 but these will now be carried out on May 12.

In February, police announced a recruitment exercise in which they seek 2500 probation constables.

Having made their applications, successful candidates have since been shortlisted and it is these that are set for interviews.
