Sacked Guard Opens Fire on Bosses, Kills Two

A tragic shooting unfolded at the offices of Ultimate Security Company in Mbuya, Kampala, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, leaving two employees dead and the suspected shooter fatally wounded.

The victims have been identified as Noella Zella, assistant human resource officer, and Salez Bwampata, armory officer, both with Ultimate Security Company.

The suspected shooter, Richard Mwaawa, a security guard with the company, also died from gunshot wounds sustained during the police response.

According to police reports, Mwaawa entered the company premises at around 9am and opened fire, fatally shooting Noella Zella before turning the weapon on Bwampata.

Police officers responding to the scene quickly engaged the suspect and shot him, neutralizing the threat.

Deputy Public Relations Officer of Kampala Metropolitan Police, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed the firearm used in the incident has been recovered and is undergoing forensic analysis.

He noted that the motive remains unclear as investigations continue.

“The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing, and further details will be communicated as soon as they are available,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.

The police have called on the public to remain calm and allow law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation into the tragic event.

All three bodies have been taken to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examinations. The incident has also reignited concerns about security and workplace safety within the area.
