The two are said to have solicited money from locals after promising them jobs during the forthcoming national census.
Husein Mulondo the CDO for Bukabooli sub county and his counterpart Sarah Kawuma of Busakira were reported to have collected monies from persons to secure them jobs as enumerators and supervisors in the census.
The arrest followed reports to Mayuge Resident District Commissioner Elijah Madoi implicating the duo on extorting shs100,000 from each person.
While addressing stakeholders who included CDOs, town clerks, sub county chiefs, police officers, UPDF soldiers, and the district planner who had converged for a training on the census at the district headquarters, Madoi said a number of people had reported to him about corruption tendencies.
He said he ordered the district the police commander Agnes Anyu to open up a general enquiry file to capture all reports to that effect and get information about civil servants who might have indulged themselves in activities of this nature .
