As families across Uganda brace for the financial demands of the new school term, MARU Credit has rolled out a timely initiative aimed at easing the pressure.
Through its "Back to School With MARU" campaign, the Tier IV financial institution is offering school fees loans with favourable terms—and the chance to win free school fees for an entire year.
Speaking on NBS Television’s Breakfast Meeting on May 15, 2025, Leah Kanziga, Marketing and Customer Experience Manager at MARU Credit, said the campaign was developed to respond to the growing challenges that parents face during school reopening periods.
“We understand the financial pressures that families face during the back-to-school season,” Kanziga said.
“Our MARU School Fees Loan is designed to provide timely and practical support that allows parents to send their children back to school stress-free.”
Under the campaign, customers can access up to Shs10 million within 24 hours at an interest rate of 2.5% per month on the reducing balance.
There are no processing fees during the campaign period, and the repayment period extends up to four months—features Kanziga says were tailored for affordability and convenience.
But it’s not just about credit. MARU Credit is sweetening the deal with a promotional draw that offers successful loan applicants a chance to win school fees for a whole academic year.
The campaign also includes supermarket activations where parents can spin a wheel to win shopping vouchers, trolley dashes, and school supplies like pens and books.
“We want to make the back-to-school process a little less stressful and a little more rewarding,” Kanziga added.
“Our campaign is not just about providing financial solutions; it’s about building lasting relationships with our customers and supporting them in achieving their goals.”
The school fees loan is the latest addition to MARU Credit’s growing suite of financial products, which includes Vehicle and Asset Financing, Logbook Loans, Personal Loans, and Business Loans.
The institution operates branches in Ntinda and Bugolobi, with plans to further expand its footprint across the country.
With the start of the school term just around the corner, MARU Credit is urging parents and guardians to take advantage of the campaign while it lasts.
