Kasese leaders calls for development boost from Museveni

As Uganda joined  the rest of the world to celebrate World Tourism Day in Kasese t, the district  leadership put forth a  case for significant development initiatives aimed at elevating the region's status and enhancing its potential as a tourist destination.

Among the key proposals discussed was the elevation of Kasese airfield into an international airport.

This move is envisioned to facilitate greater access for tourists and businesses, boosting the local economy and attracting investment.

Additionally, leaders  also advocated for the town's elevation to city status, emphasizing that the recent investment of over 53 billion shillings in road construction has transformed Kasese into a more accessible and beautiful urban area.

"Kasese deserves city status, the roads are beautiful, the town is well organised, the infrastructure improvements have laid a strong foundation, and we urge the president to consider this important upgrade." Ferigo Kambale, the Municipality MP said.

Their aim is  to develop Kasese into a recognized tourism city, leveraging its natural beauty and cultural heritage.

They also proposed that the late General James Kazini's hotel (Silversprings) be transformed into an investment project for the Rwenzururu Kingdom, further promoting tourism and local entrepreneurship.

The leaders expressed gratitude to government and development partners for their ongoing support in improving roads and infrastructure, which they believe is critical for the town’s growth.

As Kasese seeks to cement its place on Uganda's map as a thriving urban center and tourist hub, the calls for these significant changes reflect the aspirations of its citizens for a brighter future.
