Tour operators have contested changes in the gorilla/chimpanzee guidelines by government that they say don't make economic sense.

Private sector players in the tourism value chain say, UWA and responsible authorities were not considerate enough coming up with such guidelines that they say will not only shrink their once thriving businesses but also limit their operations which contribute to the growth of the economy.

Civy Tumusiime, the Chairperson of the Association of Uganda Tour Operators  further called upon government to improve sanitation especially on roads leading to national parks like Queen Elizabeth and other procedures for booking, rescheduling, and cancellation remain unchanged.

" The roads in Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls don't have stop overs for convenience. Around the parks especially Murchison Falls,  there is litter everywhere and it looks bad in the face of our tourists. The toilets in those parks are not in a good state," Tumusiime said.

Most of the procedures for booking, rescheduling, and cancellation remain unchanged.
