PFF leader Erias Lukwago has urged the party supporters to start mobilisation

The President of the People's Front for Freedom (PFF) Erias Lukwago, has officially confirmed that the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) has finalized its registration as a political party.

“We finalized with the process of registering PFF,” Lukwago told the media during a news briefing at the party’s headquarters on Katonga Road.
He added that only a procedural step by the Electoral Commission remains: gazetting the notice in line with the Political Parties and Organizations Act.

Reacting to the court’s ruling, MP Elias Nalukoola expressed frustration, telling the Nile Post's Josephine Namakumbi: “I respect the court’s authority but strongly disagree with this decision. Museveni and his people are the ones benefiting from this situation.”

His legal team, led by Muhammad Mbabazi, had argued that denying full cross-examination violates his right to a fair hearing.

Kawempe North MP-Elect Elias Nalukoola

The High Court in Kampala has dismissed Kawempe North MP Elias Nalukoola’s application to appeal a ruling that limits him to cross-examining just 10 out of 29 witnesses in the ongoing election petition. Justice Bernard Namanya ruled that such interlocutory applications are not allowed under the Parliamentary Elections Act.

"Only final rulings determining the winner of an election can be appealed," the judge stated.

Josephine Namakumbi reports that the court has now set cross-examination for May 13 and 14, beginning at 9:00 AM each day. Petitioner Faridah Nambi’s witnesses will be first on the stand, followed by Nalukoola’s defence team on May 15. Justice Namanya warned both parties to comply or face sanctions.

Deputy RCC Bukiwe, Sanon Dalah, confirmed Mwase had attended his own introduction ceremony on Saturday in Kirongero, Bugiri District, and was planning to return to Lira on Monday.

Sources say Mwase also attended a political meeting in Makuutu village on Sunday at the invitation of Iganga RCC Sadala Wandera, who announced plans to contest for the Bugweri MP seat. Over 50 RCCs later shared dinner at Sana Hotel, Iganga, before parting at around 7:30pm.

Mwase's private vehicle was found parked in the middle of the Iganga–Tirinyi highway with hazard lights on and engine running. The windows were rolled down, but he was not in the car.

Nasser Kakaire, ARCC Bugweri and close friend of the deceased, told the Nile Post's Teven Kibumba that he was informed around 8pm that Mwase's car had been abandoned on the road.

"When I arrived, the engine was still running, but he wasn’t inside,” Kakaire said.

Moments after the vehicle was found, local residents mounted a search and discovered Mwase's lifeless body in a trench just a few meters away. The body bore visible injuries, including a deep forehead wound and blood flowing from the nose.
