Kamuli police have arrested a 21-year-old woman, Zainabu Mulungi, on suspicion of killing and secretly burying her one-year-old daughter, Kabawo Hadija, in Nalinaibi village, Nawanyago sub-county.

Neighbours and relatives grew suspicious after noticing the child’s absence for two days.

When confronted, Mulungi claimed she had taken her daughter to the hospital. However, she left home on Tuesday and was only found upon her arrest in Kamuli Municipality.

On the night of Friday, March 14, a foul smell led family members to a shallow grave near Mulungi’s home. After alerting the local chairperson, they confirmed it was the child's burial site and reported the matter to the police.
