Brig. Gen. Charles Oluka, the former Director General of the Internal Security Organization (ISO), wasย on Saturday laid to rest atย his ancestral home of Ousia Village, Kalaki District, in a ceremony marked by an eleven-gun salute.
The solemn burial attracted hundreds of mourners, including high-ranking officers from the UPDF, government officials, and local residents who gathered to honor the late security chief.

In a heartfelt tribute delivered by Vice President Rtd. Maj. Jessica Alupo, President Yoweri Museveni expressed his deep sorrow over Olukaโs death and acknowledged his outstanding contributions to Ugandaโs security sector.
โI was saddened upon receiving the news about the death of my brilliant soldier. Oluka was very hardworking, disciplined, and played a key role in transforming the Internal Security Organization,โ read Museveniโs condolence message.
The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, also paid homage to Oluka, describing him as a true patriot who upheld the values of discipline, professionalism, and service to the nation.
In a message delivered by Deputy CDF Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding, Gen. Muhoozi emphasized that Olukaโs dedication would be remembered for generations.
โAs the Uganda Peopleโs Defence Forces (UPDF) fraternity, we shall miss him. Uganda will celebrate his achievements and remember him for his lasting legacy,โ Okiding read.
The burial was attended by several dignitaries, including senior government officials, security officers, and cultural leaders, all of whom spoke highly of Olukaโs exceptional service to Uganda.
Tesoโs cultural leader, Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Oluka, highlighting his contribution to the region and the country at large.
โHis passing is a great loss not only to his family but to the entire Teso community. He was a leader who worked for the good of the people and contributed immensely to national security,โ Emorimor said.
As the ceremony concluded, mourners reflected on Olukaโs life and service, praising his unwavering commitment to safeguarding Ugandaโs stability. The eleven-gun salute served as a final tribute to a man who dedicated his life to protecting his nation.
