"To all my Dear followers, It has been a great whirlwind and rousing journey together on these streets for the last 10 years since 2014. However, the time has now come under the instructions and blessings of my Lord Jesus Christ to leave and concentrate on His army, the UPDF," Gen Muhoozi posted on Friday.
On Friday, Pastor Ssempa sought clarification on whether Muhoozi's departure was voluntary or if he had been banned due to recent threats made against the leader of National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine.
"There are also rumors circulating that your account was banned due to alleged threats against Mr. Bobi Wine. Is there any truth to these claims, or are they merely unfounded speculations?" Ssempa questioned.
Last week, Muhoozi posted a series of posts assumably targeting Kyagulanyi, labelling him a rebel, and at one point stating, “Kabobi, I am going to BEAT the CRAP OUT of you… Just utter my name or my family’s name again, and I will break all those monkey teeth of yours.”
Following the announcement of his X exit, some Ugandans speculated on social media that his account may have been banned due to these recent threats against Kyagulanyi.
Ssempa emphasized that clarity on this issue would help clear the air, stating, "But now that you are gone who is going to give us the fearless truth to this question."
The outspoken pastor also expressed that Muhoozi's absence would be felt by his X followers, particularly due to his 'Friday night banter,' which according to him, had become a staple of Ugandan social media.
"Whether we agreed or not, those conversations gave us something to talk about—and laugh about. As you step away from X, I wish you success in your ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability in the region." Ssempa said.
In his final post on his X account, Muhoozi explained that he needed to focus on his military duties as the reason for his departure.
“To all my Dear followers, it has been a great whirlwind and rousing journey together on these streets for the last 10 years since 2014. However, the time has now come under the instructions and blessings of my Lord Jesus Christ to leave and concentrate on His army, the UPDF,” Muhoozi wrote.
He assured his followers of a potential return in the future, stating, "At an appropriate time, when it becomes important and after fulfilling the Almighty God's immediate assignment to restore everlasting peace and security to all His people in our region, we shall always re-converge.”
