How I Overcame Adultery – URA Boss Musinguzi

The Commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), John Rujoki Musinguzi, has opened up about his struggle with adultery in the past.

During the launch of "Grace Springs With Focus on The Family," an initiative aimed at combating family violence at the African Bible University in Lubowa, Mr Musinguzi shared his story.

He disclosed that three years into his marriage, he had an affair with a colleague at work, and this behavior escalated over time.

"When my weakness caught up with me much later in life, I had just married. It was my second or third year in marriage that I started some inappropriate relationship at work, and I kept it to myself," he said.

He observed that his behavior had reached its lowest point, and it was at that moment he recognized the need for God's help to overcome the actions that were jeopardizing his marriage.

"At that point, I said I can no longer pretend to be saved; maybe it's time I give up. By the grace of God, I felt so lost. I regretted my sin, my treachery, my beautiful wife, and I started finding ways to come back to Christ," he narrated.

"What will it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own life? At that point, I said, ‘Lord, what are you talking about?’ He said, 'You're my son, but there's something you need to put right.' And at that point, I picked the courage to really denounce the sin of immorality and all sorts of impurity that had captured my mind for so many years, which had climaxed into this. Had it not been for that grace, everything of mine had the potential to go wrong," Musinguzi further narrated.

He also mentioned that he had trust issues in his marriage and often put pressure on his wife.

Mr Musinguzi said ever since he turned to God, he overcame his struggles with infidelity and found a sense of self that has transformed him into the faithful and successful man he is today.

"But I want to tell you, brethren, I really surrendered my life to Jesus. Everything in my life has gone to the right place. There's so much joy and happiness in my family beyond what I can explain," he said.

"I thought I was good on my own and didn't need to be vulnerable. But finally, when the Lord won, and He spoke to me, and I surrendered everything to Him, I was able to see my iniquity in totality."

Musinguzi, a mathematician and corporate executive, has been serving as the Commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) since April 2, 2020, when he succeeded Doris Akol.

During his leadership, the total revenue collected reached Shs16.4 trillion for the fiscal year 2022/2023, exceeding the target of Shs16.1 trillion and resulting in a surplus of Shs236.8 billion.

Under Musinguzi's guidance, the tax base has also expanded significantly, with an increase of 882,286 registered taxpayers in the fiscal year 2022/2023, reflecting a growth of 33.7%.

Born in Rubirizi in 1973, Musinguzi earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Makerere University and a Master of Science degree in Computing and Information Systems from the University of Greenwich.
