The perpetrator, a shepherd, found the toddler alone at home and lured her to a nearby bush, where he committed the heinous crime.

Police have launch a manhunt and appealed to for public help in apprehending a man accused of raping a toddler aged 2.

According police, the incident occured on October 2 in Auruma Village, Amudat District, when the alleged perpetrator, a shepherd, found the toddler alone at home and lured her to a nearby bush, where he committed the heinous crime.

The victim's cries alerted passersby, who rescued her and chased the suspect away.

Chemutai, a witness, recounted the horrific scene:

"The perpetrator fled after hearing residents approaching. It's heartbreaking to think what this little one endured," Margret Chemutai, one of those who rescued the toddler, said.

Mike Longole, Karamoja Police spokesperson, assured that a team of detectives is investigating the matter.

"We urge anyone with information to come forward and help bring this culprit to justice."

Police are withholding the suspect's name to protect the victim's identity. The incident occurred merely 50 metres from the victim's home.
