Police in Luwero District have arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of Margaret Nakiyingi, a resident of Wobulenzi Town Council.

Nakiyingi, who was brutally killed, had reportedly been involved in a long-standing land dispute with her sister.

The key suspect, Hajjat Sarah Nakatude Nampa, a 60-year-old farmer and resident of Kigulu Zone, Wobulenzi East Ward, is the sister of the deceased.

Nampa had ongoing land wrangles with Nakiyingi that are believed to have escalated to the fatal attack.

Also arrested is Herbert Mwebaza, 36, the son of Nampa.

Mwebaza, a farmer who recently returned from Iraq, is suspected of participating in the murder. Other suspects include Nicholas Mulindwa , 23, and Lubega Mmwesigwa Apollo, 42, both builders.

Mulindwa resides in the same area as the first two suspects, while Lubega hails from Kasangombe Sub County in Nakaseke District.

The suspects are currently being held at Luwero Central Police Station as investigations continue.

"Land disputes in this region have caused untold suffering, and this incident shows how dangerous they can become," said Sam Twineamazima , spokesperson for Savannah Region Police.

Further inquiries into the case are ongoing.
