The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party leadership of Patrick Amuriat caused a gridlock on the streets of Gulu City on Saturday as they arrived to launch the party's registration in northern Uganda.

The Najjanakumbi faction are leading the registration of party members ahead of 2026 general elections.

And surely it was an afternoon to remember for the FDC leadership in Gulu City as the arrival of the Amuriat and FDC Secretary General Nandala Mafabi attracted a mammoth crowd that caused a gridlock on the streets for several hours.

Police was on hand to guide the FDC diehards to the Kaunda Grounds for the launch of the registration exercise.

"We are not just imposing candidates on you but these candidates are going to come from you," Patrick Amuriat told the party faithful.

He said the FDC party feels the pain of the Acholi people.

He also described the Parish Development Model as dangerous money, and said manye strong Acholi leaders had been bought by NRM.

Mr Mafabi also rallied the party members in Gulu to forgive each other and unite forces ahead of the 2026 general elections.

"I am hated because I am a very good servant, I call a spade a spade," Mafabi said.

"If I have offended you or anybody in the party has offended you, kindly forgive them."

The FDC Members of Parliament present included Okot B'tek Jr from Kioga County in Amolatar, Isaiah Saga from Budadiri West in Sironko, party treasurer Geoffrey Ekanya from Tororo, Okin PP Ojara from Chua West in Kitgum, Amuru Woman MP Lucy Akello and Gilbert Olanya from Kilak South in Amuru District.

"We all know there is only one FDC and there is no other FDC elsewhere among the political party," said Ojara.

Among the prominent members of Parliament who went to Parliament under the FDC ticket and did not show up today to welcome the Najjanankumbi leadership are former Leader of the Opposition Betty Aol Ocan, who is also the Gulu City Woman MP, Kilak North MP Anthony Akol, and Kitgum Municipality MP Denis Amere.
