Police investigate after woman is found dead at Uganda-Rwanda border

Authorities at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital are stuck with the body of an unidentified woman that was discovered in Buhoro Village in Buhara Subcounty.

ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, said May 27 in Buhoro, unknown suspects with malice caused the death of a yet-to-be-identified female adult.

“Police in Kable is hunting for the suspects who allegedly murdered an identified female adult, whose body was discovered at Buhoro village, in Buhara sub-county," Maate said.

He adds that the information about this incident was reported by a one Geradin Ainembabazi at Rwene Police Post, who alerted the district CID officer in Kabale.

Upon notification, the scene was visited and documented by the district CID officer and team, where the dead body, with bruises on the legs, eyes, and arms, was found just a few metres from the Uganda-Rwanda border.

The body of the deceased was conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem.

Maate further revealed that efforts to identify and arrest the suspects are ongoing. He reminded the public that anyone missing a loved one should visit the hospital mortuary to identify the deceased and arrange for a decent burial.

He also urged the public to volunteer any clues that can lead to those responsible for this incident so that the suspects can be brought to justice.

“Anyone missing their dear one should visit Kabale hospital mortuary,” Maate added.

This is not the first time for Kabale Regional Referral Hospital gets stuck with dead bodies. In February, the hospital was stuck with six unidentified bodies of which five bodies were in the mortuary for close to four months while the sixth was of a 21-year-old Rwandan national who had perished in an accident.
