The Israeli military (IDF) says it is conducting a "thorough review" after being notified that two UN peacekeepers were "inadvertently hurt during IDF combat against Hezbollah" in southern Lebanon.

Fouad Siniora said it was unacceptable to leave Lebanon to fall, and there was a lack of initiative when it came to trying to restore peace.

The Israeli military said it was investigating how its air defences failed to intercept the rockets. Hezbollah said it targeted a military base south of Haifa.
