FUFA says Kitara didn’t break law for fielding ‘unregistered’ Kaddu against KCCA FC

By | February 12, 2026

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has cleared Kitara FC of any wrongdoing after the club fielded forward Patrick Kaddu in their season opener against KCCA FC, despite his details not appearing on the online registration system at the time.

‎In its ruling, FUFA has described the matter as a “technical error” that was not the club’s fault.

‎The match, played on September 26, 2025 at Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, ended in a 1-1 draw.

‎Following the game, KCCA lodged a petition to FUFA, arguing that Kitara had used an ineligible player because Kaddu was not registered on the system and his contract had not been uploaded.

‎However, the FUFA Disciplinary Panel, sitting at FUFA House in Mengo on February 12, 2026, has dismissed the complaint and upheld the match result.

‎In its ruling, the panel noted that punishing Kitara would be unfair given the circumstances.

‎“It would be unjust to impose a disciplinary sanction on a club for a technical error that was beyond its control,” the decision read.

‎FUFA further confirmed that Kaddu was eligible to play and that Kitara did not breach any regulations.

‎“Kitara FC did not field an ineligible player during the match played on 26th September 2025,” the panel ruled.

‎As a result, the governing body maintained the outcome of the contest.

‎“The result of the match is upheld and shall stand,” FUFA stated.

‎The ruling brings an end to the dispute, with Kitara retaining the point earned from the draw as the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season continues.
