Egyptian national missing in Soroti
Ahmed's disappearance is being treated as suspicious

The East Kyoga Regional Police say they suspect "foul play" in Ahmed Ibrahim Selim's disappearance even as the Egyptian only went missing two days ago.

SOROTI | The disappearance of an Egyptian national in Soroti City is being treated as "suspicious" with police opening investigations to trace his whereabouts.

The East Kyoga Regional Police say they suspect "foul play" in Ahmed Ibrahim Selim's disappearance even as the Egyptian only went missing two days ago.

Preliminary reports show that Selim was last seen at his residence on the evening of February 23 (on Friday) in the company of two friends, one of whom has been identified as Muhammad Nabil Ali, also an Egyptian.

SP Gregg Ageca Oscar, the PRO of East Kyoga, said on Saturday, February 24, Mark Kisolo, an employee of Selim, went to his residence in Camp Swahili Ward, Soroti West Division but found the door locked.

"A key was discovered placed next to the window, which Kisolo used to gain entry into the house," Ageca said. "He found it [the house] deserted."

The Nile Post has requested the Police for additional information on what could have prompted them to open the disappearance and whether Selim's cell phone was reachable.

However, Ageca said Police had recovered trousers Selim, 32, was wearing on the night of his disappearance as well as suspicion of foul play in the house.

He did not go into the detail of the alleged foul play but said it followed "a thorough analysis" of the victim's residence by a team of detectives and crime scene officers.

Ageca said the East Kyoga Police, working with their divisional counterparts, are treating the case as a disappearance and have formally opened a file at Soroti City East Division under SD Ref 02/25/02/2024.

He urged anyone with information regarding Selim's whereabouts to come forward or reach out to police anonymously through toll-free numbers 112 or 999.
