The match attracted a large crowd of supporters from both counties and ended 0-0 despite Gomba creating the better scoring opportunities throughout the game.
The five-time champions travelled to Busiro seeking all three points as they pursue a record sixth Masaza Cup title. However, missed chances denied Felix Sekabuza Kawooya's side a winning start to the tournament.
Although Busiro enjoyed home advantage, Gomba looked the more dangerous side and came close to breaking the deadlock on several occasions. Their attackers were repeatedly denied by the woodwork and a determined Busiro defence.
After the match, Gomba supporters expressed satisfaction with securing a point on the road, arguing that the performance demonstrated the team's potential to challenge for this year's title.
“Busiro survived today. We came here looking for a win and several goals, but a point away from home is still valuable. Our players created chances and hit the posts, but unfortunately the goals did not come,” some supporters said.
Fans singled out Robert Sewanyana and defender Onen Herbert for praise following their performances.
“The players entertained us and showed great determination. Sewanyana had two efforts that nearly found the net, while Onen was outstanding in defence. We are confident this team can go far, and any side that visits Kabulasoke should be prepared for a tough challenge,” the supporters added.
Elsewhere in Group Masengere, Kyaggwe registered a 1-0 away victory over Mawokota in Buwama to take an early lead in the standings.
Gomba will now shift focus to their next fixture against Ssese at Kabulasoke on June 28. Victory in that match would move them to four points and strengthen their ambitions of lifting this year's Masaza Cup trophy.
The Lions remain under the guidance of head coach Felix Sekabuza Kawooya, who is aiming to steer the county to another successful campaign.
