Express’ Blanchar Mulamba Stable After Head Injury in Bul Clash
Express defender Blanchar Mulamba is recovering after a head injury during a Uganda Premier League match against Bul, with doctors ruling out serious internal damage as the club confirms he will undergo further treatment and surgery.

Express defender Mulamba Blanchar is in stable condition after suffering a head injury during a Uganda Premier League fixture against Bul on Friday.

The incident occurred following a collision with Bul midfielder Hillary Onek, leaving Mulamba unconscious and bleeding heavily from the mouth after sustaining a deep cut on his lips.

“He lost consciousness and experienced a lot of bleeding from the mouth after a deep cut on his lips,” the club said in a statement.

The defender was taken to Case Hospital, where he underwent a CT scan to determine the extent of the injury.

“The CT scan results came back negative, ruling out any serious internal damage,” the club added.

Despite the reassuring scan results, Express confirmed that Blanchar will undergo further medical assessments and surgery as part of his treatment.

“He will still undergo other scans today as directed by the doctors and will have an operation,” the club said, noting that the player is “now stable and responding positively to treatment.”

The injury overshadowed the match, which the Red Eagles lost 2-0 to Bul.

Blanchar’s case comes just days after another concerning incident in the Uganda Premier League involving Richard Basangwa of NEC, who collapsed during a match against Express at Nakivubo Stadium after being struck in the throat.

That earlier episode raised questions about emergency response readiness after reports indicated that the stadium ambulance malfunctioned, delaying evacuation.

In contrast, Express said emergency response during Friday’s match was swift, enabling Blanchar to receive immediate medical attention.

The club said it will continue to monitor his recovery and provide updates on his condition.
