Kyagwe County Chief (Sekiboobo) Vincent Matovu has confirmed the retention of Stephen Serubula as Kyagwe chairperson as the team intensifies preparations for the 2025 Masaza Cup.
The announcement, made at Kyagwe Countyheadquarters in Mukono, also unveiled a 40-member management committee featuring both returning officials and fresh faces.
Mikdad Mulimira continues as team manager, while retired FIFA referee Aisha Semambo joins the technical committee.
Semambo pledged to help strengthen the team but urged patience from fans and officials.
“I am fully committed to the team, but it’s important that both the technical team and the fans work together. Planning takes time, and we shouldn’t expect miracles overnight,” she said.
Serubula, reflecting on his first season in football administration, vowed to push Kyagwe to greater heights in 2025.
“Last season, I was new to football management, but this time, I’m ready to make a real difference. We are focused and committed to putting everything in place to win,” he said.
Sekiboobo Matovu called on the new committee to prioritize securing sponsorships, citing financial stability as crucial for success.
“Football management cannot succeed without funds. I urge you to find ways to raise money for the team,” Matovu said.
He pointed to Buddu, which secured a sponsorship deal with Plascon, as an example for Kyagwe to follow. He also stressed the need for transparency in player selection to ensure integrity in the team’s operations.
“If we are going to succeed, transparency is key. Those responsible for signing and selecting players must do so with honesty,” he urged.
Last season, Kyagwe narrowly lost 1-0 to Buddu in the Masaza Cup final. With a revamped management structure, the team is determined to mount a stronger challenge for the 2025 title.
