Major League Soccer (MLS) club New England Revolution has signed Ugandan midfielder Allan Oyirwoth to a three-year contract.

"The New England Revolution have signed central midfielder Allan Oyirwoth, a 17-year-old with Uganda Senior National Team experience.

"The contract officially takes effect on Oyirwoth’s 18th birthday later this month on Jan. 23, 2025, and runs through the 2028 MLS season, with a one-year club option for 2029," the club announced on Wednesday.

Born in Pakwach, Oyirwoth becomes the second-youngest player on the Revolution’s first team as preseason training begins.

The talented midfielder has made a name for himself with a series of standout performances for Amus College School and clubs such as MYDA FC, Amor Young Heroes, Pakwach Super Eagles, Mawokota, and Gomba.

“Allan Oyirwoth is one of the top prospects out of Uganda and a very promising young midfielder,” said Revolution Sporting Director Curt Onalfo.

“We are excited to get Allan into our high-potential training environment in New England and help him fulfill his potential.”

Oyirwoth has already earned two caps with the Uganda Senior National Team. He made his debut in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier on November 21, 2023, against Somalia, providing one assist in a 67-minute performance.

His second appearance came in a friendly against Kuwait on Jan. 19, 2024.

In 2023, Oyirwoth achieved remarkable success, earning MVP honors in multiple competitions, including the Teso Zone, USSSA National Football Championship, International Schools Football (ISF) Championship in Morocco, Federation of East African Secondary Schools (FEASSSA) competition, and the Buganda Masaza Cup.

“Allan is a talented young midfielder with a tremendous upside, and I’m excited to help him reach his potential,” said Revolution Head Coach Caleb Porter.

“At only 17, Allan is gifted technically and has a frame and athletic range that fits well for MLS. With time in our training environment, I’m confident he can develop into an impactful midfielder for our first team.”

In addition to his domestic accolades, Oyirwoth gained international experience when he joined Brooke House College and Academy in Leicester, England, for a six-month stint in 2024.

The academy, known for its ties to English Premier League clubs, provided Oyirwoth with valuable exposure to high-level competition.

The New England Revolution will kick off their 2025 MLS season on Saturday, February 22, against Nashville, where fans eagerly await to see Oyirwoth in action.
