Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana has extended a special invitation to Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, and his son to watch him play at Old Trafford.

Tayebwa, a fervent supporter of the club, met with Onana at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala ahead of the Cameroon's Africa Cup of Nations 2026 qualifier match against Kenya at Namboole Stadium.

Kenya is facing Uganda's support for Onana despite their own fan base rallying for the Harambee Stars.

The match will be played behind close doors.

Tayebwa took to social media to share his excitement after the meeting, writing on X (formerly Twitter): "Together with my son, we had an exciting interaction with Andre Onana this morning. The Man Utd goalkeeper is in Uganda for their Afcon qualifier match against the Harambee Stars of Kenya."

Tayebwa also praised Onana's representation of Africa on the world football stage, adding, "As ardent Man Utd fans, we are excited to see an African raising our continent’s flag at the biggest football club in the world. We are praying for his success."

The meeting comes at a time when Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure due to the team's underwhelming performances.

Among other notable figures who welcomed Onana to Uganda was former Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga. She expressed her excitement on X, writing: "Man U, for better, for worse, welcome to Onana @ThomasTayebwa."

As the anticipation builds, Kenya's Harambee Stars are preparing to face Cameroon at Namboole Stadium, having suffered a 5-0 defeat in the reverse fixture.
