I&M Bank regional CEO commits to elevating golf

I&M Bank Uganda Friday hosted a select industry captains to an exclusive round of golf with the organisation’s regional CEO, Kihara Maina.

Dubbed, "Tee-time with the I&M Bank CEO", the round was hosted at the scenic Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, and played by several invited guests.

Among the participants were Robin Bairstow, chief executive of I&M Bank Uganda, Crown Beverages Ltd chairman Amos Nzeyi, MSL Logistics LTD chairman Edward Kabuchu, Case Hospital chairman Kato Sebale, and Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa managing director Daniel Kangu.

In an exclusive interview with NBS Sport’s Joel Khamadi, Maina expressed the bank’s commitment to advancing sports engagement through its different ventures particularly in golf.

“We’re genuinely thrilled about advancing sports engagement, particularly through our prosperous venture, the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series," Maina said.

"It’s incredibly satisfying to witness its acknowledgment on the Uganda Golf Union calendar. Our objective is to elevate this series into a top-tier regional tournament, attracting elite golfers and enhancing the sport’s prominence and appeal."

He noted that the bank’s plan is to get itself more immersed in sports because it is very beneficial world over.

Amos Nzeyi, the chairman of Pepsi East Africa and Honorary Country Counsel of Mauritius to Uganda, underscored the crucial role of corporate involvement in the growth of golf.

“The more companies participate, the more the sport can expand and develop. I particularly enjoyed todays round with the group I played with,” Nzeyi stated.

Other industry captains at the gathering included DHL Uganda general manager and I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series captain Elly Kibuuka Mukasa, chairman Nakasero  Hospital Ben Mbonye and Andrew Kabaya, senior partner at Shonubi Musoke & Co. Advocates, who is also the vice captain of the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series.

Others were I&M Bank CFO Timothy Musiime, CBO Gibson Nangono, and Annette Nakiyaga, the bank’s head of Marketing and Corporate Communications.

At the end of the 18-hole round, the players were hosted to an intimate dinner with the regional CEO on the shores of Lake Victoria.

After dinner, the day’s winners were awarded with special prizes for their outstanding display on the course.

Elly Kibuuka Mukasa was announced as the overall winner.

I&M Bank Uganda CEO, Bairstow said that the golf meeting was aimed at providing an interactive, out of office engagement between key partners and the Regional CEO.
