City pastor and former Galaxy FM journalist Jonathan Nalebo, aka Apostle Jona, has ended his seven-year marriage to Enid Mirembe, taking full responsibility for its collapse—just days after publicly proposing to born-again DJ Alisha Uwase on social media.

Kampala — City pastor Jonathan Nalebo, widely known as Apostle Jona, has confirmed his separation from partner and former Miss Uganda organiser Enid Mirembe, ending a marriage that lasted more than seven years.

In a deeply reflective public statement, Apostle Jona expressed remorse and took full accountability for the breakdown of the relationship.

“After seven-plus years, Enid and I have peacefully parted ways. I take full accountability for falling short. She’s an incredible woman, and I pray she finds the love she deserves,” he wrote.

“As for me, I return to Jesus—to heal, serve, and grow. Psalm 34:18.”

The announcement quickly gained traction on social media and was amplified by Galaxy FM, a station with which Apostle Jona once worked as a journalist before transitioning into ministry and event organising, including the high-profile Rolex Festival.

In a longer message shared with his followers, Jona admitted to mishandling the relationship.

“In many ways, she was too perfect for me to keep up with, and I mishandled the treasure she was,” he said.

“I failed to fully honour the values she carried so gracefully in every area of life.”

He added that their separation was not borne of hostility, but rather a mutual decision made in the interest of peace, healing, and the wellbeing of their children—who will remain in the custody of Mirembe.

“As a servant of God, I know I am called to lead by example—but I have fallen short,” he admitted. “The enemy often comes for the most precious things—and family is one of them.”

But while calling for prayers and solitude, Apostle Jona has raised eyebrows with what many have described as a bold leap into the sweet world as the separation was preceded by awkward overtures on social media.

On April 13, Galaxy FM’s X account (formerly Twitter) posted a series of glamorous images of born-again music deejay Alisha Uwase, captioned: "Meet the born again DJ Alisha! She quit bars, alcohol and sex. The Lord is indeed amazing."

To this, Apostle Jona replied directly on the platform with an audacious public proposal: "Hi Alisha, can we get married?"

Then, two days later on April 15, when DJ Uwase posted several photos of herself alongside the caption, “He makes everything beautiful... in His time”, Apostle Jona responded again—this time quoting Scripture.

Citing Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV), he wrote: “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

The digital exchange has sparked mixed reactions—some praising Jona’s openness and faith in new beginnings, while others questioned the timing and sincerity of the proposal given his recent heartbreak.

Still, the pastor remains unapologetic about his spiritual journey. “If love ever comes again, I hope it finds me healed, whole, and more anchored in Christ,” he wrote. “Until then, stay blessed.”
