South Sudan tycoon “Kidnapped” in Kampala released by ISO

South Sudanese young ‘tycoon’ Lawrence Lual Malong Jnr,30, who had allegedly been kidnapped has been released from custody, the Nile Post has learnt.

Malong Jnr went missing on November 14 from Milano Hotel in Kabalagala by security operatives donning military uniform before it was reported that he had been arrested by the Internal Security Organisation.

However, according to South Sudanese new outlet, Nyamilepedia, Malong was released from the Internal Security Organization’s custody last week.

“Lawrence Lual Malong Yor, who also calls himself “The Young Tycoon”, announced his release in a brief statement saying the Ugandan army kept him safe and treated him well,” the news outlet said.

Malong posted on his social media pages confirming the release from custody saying he had been treated well while in detention.

“The Ugandan internal security arrested me on the 14/11/2018, and they kept me there until today. They kept me in a safe place and gave me food of my choice,” he said.

“While under arrest, they have asked me generic questions on why I posted videos on social media ‘showering myself with money?’ There was no particular investigation about my business in Uganda that they asked and even if they were to ask, I wouldn’t answer because it is not their role,” he added.

Lawrence Lual Malong Junior came into limelight last year when he posted a video of himself “drowning” in a pile of US dollar notes.

In the video, he bragged about living a very expensive lifestyle including flying in a presidential jet and wearing shoes worth $10,000.

The video went viral prompting many to link him to former South Sudanese army chief, Gen.Paul Malong Awan. Some people claimed he was the general’s son adding that that is how he got his wealth.

Both the young and old Malong denied being related to each other.

“I am not a son of General Malong. When you’re calling me his son, you are abusing me. I am Lawrence Lual Malong Yor Jr. I always mention it in every video, even the video I’m swimming in money. My dad is Lual Malong Yor Snr. Then I became Lual Malong Yor Jr,” the young Malong said during an interview with Kenya’s Citizen Television recently.
