Two opposition leaders from the National Unity Platform (NUP) have been arrested by the Special Forces Command (SFC) in Mubende just hours before President Museveni is expected to commission key USMID road infrastructure projects in the area.
The arrested individuals are Pafuladito Kyeyune, the NUP chairperson for Mubende, and Damusen Kakooza, a councillor representing Kalonga Sub-county.
Kyeyune was intercepted while driving a vehicle branded with images of NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine.
Witnesses say he had parked at Shell Kakumiro Road Supermarket when armed operatives approached.
According to eyewitness accounts, traffic police had initially instructed Kyeyune to exit the vehicle. Shortly after, SFC operatives reportedly dragged him out by force.
In the process, Kakooza—who was filming the arrest—was also apprehended.
Both men were taken to Mubende Central Police Station. Their current legal status remains unclear, but the incident comes amid heightened security ahead of the president’s high-profile event.
