The search for Judith Kyarisiima, a senior midwife from Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, has come to a heartbreaking conclusion after her body was found in River Rwizi. Kyarisiima, who also held the position of National General Secretary for the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Union.
She had vanished under mysterious circumstances from her Katete Central Cell residence in Mbarara City on the morning of September 2, 2024.
Her sudden disappearance raised alarm among family members, coworkers, and the local community. A coordinated search by the Rwizi Region Police and local residents was launched though hope dwindled as days passed with no sign of her, leading to growing fears about her safety.
This afternoon, her body was recovered from River Rwizi, sending waves of grief and shock throughout Mbarara. Authorities are exploring all angles as investigators work to determine the cause of Kyarisiima’s untimely death.
Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital expressed its grief regarding their staff member on their official X account, posting: “Judith, though you're gone, your kindness and good deeds will forever be etched in our hearts. Your memory will live on through the lives you touched.”
