Police in Sembabule have initiated an investigation into the shocking discovery of 10 cows found mutilated and slaughtered.

The gruesome scene has sent shockwaves through the local community, prompting law enforcement authorities to swiftly respond to the disturbing incident.

The targeted cows, belonging to Col. Naboth Mwesigwa, a respected soldier in the area, had their legs severed by unidentified assailants.

Astonishingly, there were no signs of human intervention, leading to suspicions that the cows may have been harmed by supernatural forces or mystical elements.

Sembabule District Police Commander Davis Willis Ndawula called for an emergency security meeting to address the issue and determine its origin.

"We have gathered crucial clues regarding the individuals responsible for this heinous act. Our primary focus is to apprehend them and ensure justice is served. While it is true that the cows may have caused damage to their crops, the mutilation is an entirely separate matter," he noted.

During the meeting, local residents expressed their concerns and provided their accounts of the events.

They revealed that Col. Mwesigwa's cows had been a source of constant trouble for the community, relentlessly trespassing onto their farmlands and decimating their crops.

However, the residents vehemently denied any involvement in the slaughter and expressed their belief that there may be a hidden agenda behind the targeted killing.

"It appears that there could be a sinister plot to inflict harm upon the residents of this village. We are utterly perplexed and bewildered by these disturbing events," said one resident, reflecting the sentiments of many others.

Another resident echoed these concerns, stating, "I refuse to believe that the locals are responsible for slaughtering the cows. There seems to be a malicious motive behind this deplorable act."

Residents further revealed that the absence of proper fencing around Col. Mwesigwa's farm allowed the cows unrestricted access to their fields, exacerbating the already strained relationship between the community and the livestock.

The cows were found mutilated in the fields of Serinya A village chairman, Vincent Ssentongo and resident John Kiguddu.

Ssentongo, while acknowledging the devastation caused by the cows in the village, expressed deep apprehension among the community's leaders due to the brutality employed against the animals.

The incident has sparked fear and anxiety.

"These cows have been slaughtered, but they don't eat coffee. I have a coffee farm, and they have never touched it. Imagine finding slaughtered cows on your property; they are robbing us of our peace," lamented Chairman Ssentongo.

In a strong condemnation of the act, District Police Commander Ndaula assured the community that the authorities would spare no effort in bringing the culprits to justice.

"This act was not carried out by a lone individual. We will exhaust all investigative avenues to uncover the truth and hold those responsible accountable," declared Ndaula.

Efforts to reach Col. Naboth Mwesigwa for comment were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls made to his known phone number.
