The gift, a white SUV, was presented as part of a pledge made by the President during Bishop Chorey’s consecration ceremony on August 25, 2024.

The newly consecrated Bishop of Karamoja, Rt Rev Michael Chorey, has received a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado from President Yoweri Museveni.

The gift, a white SUV, was presented as part of a pledge made by the President during Bishop Chorey’s consecration ceremony on August 25.

The vehicle handover took place less than a week after the promise was made, with Vice President Jessica Alupo personally delivering the car to the Bishop.

During the ceremony, Vice President Alupo highlighted that the vehicle is meant to support the Bishop in his pastoral duties across the Karamoja region.

"The vehicle will be used to do God's work," she affirmed.

Bishop Chorey expressed his gratitude to President Museveni for the donation. "I am so happy with this donation," the bishop said.

"The vehicle will greatly aid in coordinating the church’s activities and outreach programs throughout Karamoja."

The Bishop was accompanied by Joseph Lobot Nangole, chairperson of Amudat District, who also thanked the President for his support to the church and the Karamoja sub-region.

As Bishop Chorey begins his new role, the vehicle is expected to enhance his ability to reach more congregants and strengthen the church's presence in the remote areas of Karamoja.
