Lightning strikes, injures three in Rubanda

A lightning strike has struck and injured three people in Rubanda district.

The incident occurred on Sunday at Mengo Church of Uganda following a heavy down pour after the  Sunday service.

Ven.Earnest Nkwasibwe confirmed the injured women, identifying them as Charity Murungi ,35, Brenda Nyiramutuzo, 33  and Macklean Tumusingize, 30, all residents of Mengo Village.

They were  rushed to Muko Church of Uganda HCIII for medical attention.

“I want to call upon on the district leadership to equip worshiping centres and schools with lightening conductors so that we prevent such incidents in future," Ven Nkwasibwe said.

In response some well-wishers’ who include Mucunguzi Innocent Rwakiiseta visited the affected families, providing essential relief items like matooke, rice, salt and soap. He emphasized the importance of lightning safety precautions.

“I want to remind you to observe lightening precautions like Staying Safe Indoor, avoiding outdoor activities during thunderstorms, electronics precautions, refraining from using electronic devices during storms, protective gears and  wearing rubber boots, especially during the rainy season,”Mucunguzi said.
