Speaking after the operation, the NUP leader said the videos circulating on social media have been crucial in revealing what he called "police lies."
The National Unity Platform (NUP) president, Robert Kyagulanyi, has praised the public for capturing and sharing videos of a confrontation between him and the police, which he claims expose the true nature of the incident.
The altercation occurred on Tuesday as Mr Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, was returning from a private visit to NUP counsel George Musisi.

During the incident, the police fired teargas, and one of the canisters reportedly hit Mr Kyagulanyi’s car, injuring his leg.
He was taken to the hospital, where he underwent surgery on his leg.
Speaking after the operation, the NUP leader said the videos circulating on social media have been crucial in revealing what he called "police lies."
He urged Ugandans to continue recording and sharing footage of confrontations with security forces, arguing that such videos often uncover the truth that might otherwise be misrepresented by authorities.
“These videos are the only way we can disprove the lies,” Kyagulanyi said during a media briefing at his home in Magere.
Several amateur footages of the incident surfaced on social media, especially TikTok, as netizens filmed and published the incident.
The footages showing different angles left the Police almost naked.
The Uganda Police Force, however, insisted otherwise, offering a different account, claiming Kyagulanyi injured himself while getting into his car during the altercation.
According to a police spokesperson, the NUP leader stumbled, causing the injury.
The police also accused Kyagulanyi's supporters of throwing stones at officers, prompting them to respond with tear gas.
This incident is not the first time Kyagulanyi has clashed with law enforcement. The former musician-turned-politician has frequently faced standoffs with police, especially when attempting to hold public rallies or address his supporters.
On several occasions, the police have prevented him from doing so, citing concerns over public order.
The recent altercation has once again underscored the ongoing tension between Kyagulanyi and the security forces.
The NUP leader has repeatedly accused the government of employing heavy-handed tactics to suppress political opposition.
Videos of Tuesday’s incident, widely shared on social media, have sparked mixed reactions from the public, with some expressing concern over the use of force by security agencies.
Kyagulanyi has called on the public to remain vigilant and continue documenting their encounters with law enforcement, asserting that such actions are vital for safeguarding democratic freedoms.
This incident serves as another reminder of the tense relationship between Uganda’s political opposition and security forces, with video evidence increasingly becoming a critical tool for both accountability and challenging official narratives.
