Four family members die after eating suspected poisoned fish
A fifth person, Modesta Adubo - who also consumed the fish - is admitted to Tokora Health Centre IV.
Four family members have died after allegedly eating suspected poisoned fish.
Francis Ekwam, Asingo Akiliat, Emma Ekwam, and Teddy Mugara were discovered dead in their home on the morning of August 8 in Lorenglup village in Nakapiripirit Town Council.
A fifth person, Modesta Adubo - who also consumed the fish - is admitted to Tokora Health Centre IV.
According to a surviving family member, Catherine Nadunga, who does not eat fish, the family had consumed fish bought and cooked on the evening of August 7.
"I think I survived the incident because I refrained from eating the fish," a sobbing Nadunga said.
The bodies have been transported to Tokora Health Centre IV for postmortem examination to confirm the cause of death.
"We have collected exhibits and are investing the incident," said Mike Longole, the Karamoja Police spokesperson said
He said they have launched investigations into the incident.
"We are investigating the source of the fish and any potential contamination that could have led to this tragic incident," Mr Longole said.
