Man of God arrested over murder of URA staff
Police have arrested Fr Dominic Alinga, a priest of Moroto Diocese, implicated in the murder of John Bosco Ngorok, a Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) staff member working at Entebbe International Airport.
The alleged incident occurred on July 4, 2024, at Mugonga Junction in Entebbe.
According to a voice recording circulating on social media, Fr Alinga is accused of stabbing Ngorok during a brawl over money while they were driving in Ngorok's Toyota Vitz, registration number UBM 644S. Ngorok succumbed to his injuries due to excessive bleeding.
Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said the suspect was apprehended in Tororo, where he had fled following the incident.
"We have arrested Father Dominic Alinga and are conducting further investigations," Owoyesigyire said.
The murder incident has sent shockwaves through Karamoja, as Father Alinga and Ngorok were well-known friends who maintained a long-standing friendship from school days
The police are now piecing together the events leading up to the altercation and gathering more evidence to build a case.
“We urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue. All necessary measures are being taken to ensure a thorough and fair process," Mike Longole, Karamoja Police spokesperson, said
