The chairperson LCV Kaliro district Elijah Kagodha Dhikusooka was pleased to have the programme enter his district saying women will take the chance to take on programmes that can fight poverty.
Kagodha said that a number of women had suffered without funds in micro development projects, citing that it has come at the right time.
“I am happy that Rt Hon Kadaga has initiated this programme in this district of Kaliro, especially focusing on the welfare of women. As you are aware, women for a long time have been left behind because there have been no startup funds but this programme will enable them to take on projects that will deliver them from poverty,” Mr. Kagodha said.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Kaliro district Aggrey Fredrick Bangu commended the programme for coming with a method of training people especially the vulnerable women on how to handle projects and assessing their capacity to empower themselves using such projects.
He said that some government programmes have since not benefited some vulnerable women, adding that such programmes will pull women out of poverty and their livelihoods will be improved.
“Parish Development Model (PDM) is working but some of the most vulnerable women have not been helped as of now, so this project will support such people because of the element of training and provoking their capacity to manage these projects,” RDC Bangu said.
