The Electoral Commission (EC) in Ibanda District has urged aspiring candidates to submit their nomination papers early rather than waiting until the final day.
Speaking on Thursday at the EC offices, Ibanda District Election Administrator Aidah Barekye Nkeija emphasized that early submissions allow the commission sufficient time to cross-check documents and guide candidates in case of errors.
“We encourage candidates to always come for nominations when it’s still early, rather than rushing on the deadline. Reporting early gives us time to verify credentials and advise where necessary without inconveniences,” Nkeija said.
According to the EC roadmap, nominations for lower local government positions will close on September 24, 2025, while parliamentary nominations are scheduled for October 15–16, 2025.
Nkeija also reminded aspirants to strictly adhere to the Electoral Commission’s guidelines. “Candidates should follow the electoral commission guidelines to avoid disqualification or unnecessary delays,” she advised.
The EC has consistently emphasized that timely preparation and compliance with nomination requirements are essential for a smooth and credible electoral process.
