Katabi Town Council mayor Ronald Kalema has officially launched his campaign for re-election, pledging to consolidate gains made during his first term and deliver even more services across the fast-growing municipality.
Kalema, who is contesting on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, was nominated at the party’s headquarters in Makerere-Kavule. Dozens of supporters accompanied him to show their endorsement.
“My commitment to serve Katabi is stronger than ever,” Kalema said. “Together, we will construct a healthier, more educated, and prosperous Katabi for all.”
Since taking office, Kalema has overseen several key infrastructure and social development projects.
Among his notable achievements is lobbying for the construction of a new town council office, a facility that now serves as the administrative hub for parishes including Kitala, Nalugala, Nkumba, Kisubi, and Kabaale.
In the education sector, Kalema led the construction of three classroom blocks at Bugabo Primary School. He also partnered with Rotary Foundation to erect classroom blocks at Kitala Secondary School, expanding access to quality education in the area.
He has now set his sights on improving healthcare. One of his flagship pledges is to build a Health Centre III (HCIII) in Kitala Ward, which would bring medical services closer to underserved residents.
Kalema’s administration has also pushed for better road infrastructure and in 2020 publicly called out the Uganda National Roads Authority to address the state of roads in Katabi.
He now plans to expand road networks and improve feeder roads to support trade and transport.
Looking ahead, Kalema is promising to introduce scholarship programs to support learners from vulnerable backgrounds, alongside broader initiatives for youth and women’s economic empowerment.
With a track record of delivering tangible services and a new agenda for inclusive development, Kalema heads into the upcoming elections positioning himself as a continuity candidate with a community-first vision.
