Mulalu Launches 2025 NRM Bid for Ngariam County
Daniel Mulalu, a close aide to President Museveni and head of the Kazi Ni Kazi Foundation, has officially joined the race to unseat Ngariam MP Peter Ogwang in the upcoming NRM primaries, promising inclusive development and peaceful elections.

Daniel Mulalu, the private secretary to the President in charge of Political Mobilisation and Executive Director of the Kazi Ni Kazi Foundation, has formally declared his bid for the Ngariam County parliamentary seat in the 2025 NRM primaries.

Launching his campaign on Saturday at Kololo Ward in Katakwi Town Council, Mulalu addressed hundreds of supporters, youth groups, elders, party leaders, and business people, pledging to deliver people-centred leadership grounded in service, humility, and action.

“I am here today not to make promises but to declare my commitment to a shared dream for a better Ngariam. A Ngariam where every child can go to school, every farmer can access markets, and every youth has a chance at employment,” he said, drawing loud cheers and chants of “Kazi Ni Kazi!”

Mulalu presented a comprehensive development plan focusing on five priority areas: education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, and agriculture.

He pledged to lobby for the construction and rehabilitation of schools, upgrade health centres, tarmac key access roads, and expand vocational skilling programmes under his foundation.

“This is not just a campaign. It is a mission to restore hope and dignity to our people,” he said. “My campaign is rooted in the needs of the common man and woman—the farmer, the teacher, the mother, the boda rider.”

Mulalu also promised to improve access to Emyooga and Parish Development Model funds and provide farm inputs and training to boost agricultural productivity in Ngariam.

He urged candidates and voters to reject violence and promote mature, peaceful campaigns.

“We must not allow elections to divide us. Ngariam belongs to all of us,” he said. “I appeal to my supporters and fellow aspirants to commit to a peaceful campaign. We can compete with ideas, not fists or insults.”

Mulalu also appealed to security agencies and the Electoral Commission to ensure fairness throughout the election process.

A longtime political mobiliser, Mulalu served on the NRM National Taskforce for the Teso and Karamoja regions since 2011 and has been involved in key national campaigns.

He revealed that President Yoweri Museveni had officially accepted his resignation from State House, clearing the way for his entry into elective politics.

“I thank the President for the trust and mentorship. I have now answered the call of the people of Ngariam. I am ready,” he declared, to wild applause.

Several local leaders endorsed his candidacy at the event, including youth leader Martha Atai from Palam Sub-county, who praised him as “accessible, development-minded, and a servant leader.”

“He has always been with us even when he was still working at the national level,” she said. “We believe he is the right person to lead Ngariam into the future.”

Mulalu also announced that Alfred Ochen, a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) councillor for Akoboi, had crossed over to the NRM and joined his campaign team.

His path to the NRM flag will not be easy. He is expected to face stiff competition from incumbent Ngariam MP and Junior Sports Minister Peter Ogwang, as well as fellow State House official Augustine Otuko.

Political analysts predict a heated NRM primary in Ngariam, likely to be one of the most closely watched in the Teso sub-region.

Still, Mulalu sounded confident.

“I trust the people of Ngariam. They have seen my work. They know my heart. And when the time comes, they will vote for progress, not promises,” he said.

With his campaign now officially underway, Mulalu has positioned himself as a development-focused, loyal NRM contender promising to deliver results where it matters most.
