NRM District Chairpersons Back Speaker Among for Second Vice Chairperson Role

The position of Second National Vice Chairperson is currently held by former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, who has also expressed interest in retaining the role.

A group of National Resistance Movement (NRM) district chairpersons has thrown their support behind Parliament Speaker Anita Among for the position of Second National Vice Chairperson of the ruling party.

Led by Eastern Region NRM Vice Chairperson Captain Mike Mukula, the chairpersons praised Speaker Among's effective leadership as the Speaker of the 11th Parliament, saying it demonstrates her readiness for the party's second-highest role.

"We believe Speaker Anita Among is a visionary leader who can steer the party to greater unity and success," Captain Mukula said after a meeting with NRM district chairpersons.

"Her declaration is a clear sign she is already a frontrender."

In response, Speaker Among expressed her readiness to mobilize and foster unity within the party.

"I'm ready to work with all party members to promote unity and progress," she said.

However, she cautioned district chairpersons against using abusive language during campaign efforts in their respective areas.

The position of Second National Vice Chairperson is currently held by former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, who has also expressed interest in retaining the role.

The endorsement of Speaker Among by the NRM district chairpersons sets the stage for a potentially competitive race within the party.
