"We are ready," Makabayi stated, urging voters in Kawempe North to turn up in large numbers and exercise their democratic right without fear. He added that police and other security agencies had committed to maintaining order throughout the election process.
The constituency has 187 polling stations, each set to be equipped with biometric voter verification machines and an updated voters' register.
Regional Election Officer Tolbert Musingizi outlined the logistical plans, stating that election materials would be loaded at 3am at the EC stores in Banda and dispatched at 5am.
The commission has allocated one vehicle for every three polling stations to facilitate smooth transportation.
EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama also used the meeting to refute claims that the commission had issued ballots for pre-ticking ahead of the polls.
"I have heard these rumours, but all our ballot papers are sealed and secure," Byabakama stated.
"If anyone can provide us with a sample of the alleged pre-ticked ballots, we can verify that they are not from us."
