Speaking to reporters after her nomination, Ms Nirere expressed her gratitude and outlined her vision for youth-led leadership in Kisoro.
KISORO | Ms Fancy Brenda Nirere has been officially cleared by Dr Tanga Odoi, the chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission, to contest in the upcoming party primaries for the Kisoro District Woman Member of Parliament seat, ahead of the 2024-2026 by-elections.

The by-election, however, took an unexpected turn with the recent withdrawal of Ruth Nyiranez.
Nyiraneza, who had garnered support from various corners, stepped down from the race without giving explicit reasons for her withdrawal.
Ms Nyiraneza pulled out to leave the race wide open as she had previously been expected to ride on her family name to replace the late Sarah Mateke, her sister whose shock death last month led to the by-election.
Speaking to reporters after her nomination, Ms Nirere expressed her gratitude and outlined her vision for youth-led leadership in Kisoro.
"This is the time to have meaningful youth-led representation in Kisoro. I encourage all Bafumbira to have a high turnout so that our aspirations become a reality," she said.
“I’m honoured to accept the mantle of leadership that the people of Kisoro will bestow upon me,” Nirere added.
The nomination of candidates for the Woman MP seat will take place on October 30 and 31.
Successful candidates will then embark on a 12-day campaign period, running from November 1 to November 12, 2024.
The election will take place on November 14.
