Former Democratic Party (DP) member and lawyer, Paul Kenneth Kakande has warned the party it is headed to the drains following the resolutions arrived at by its National Executive Committee (NEC) over the weekend.

Over the weekend, DP's NEC sat in Mbale, making controversial resolutions that have since sparked debate.

These proposed re-registration of party members, barred members from taking the party to court, among others

Kakande says these resolutions are simply exposing Nobert Mao and his leadership and party members must now take it upon themselves to redeem the party from such leadership.

"They only expose them as people who do not know what they are going," he said.

Kakande says now the onus is with the party members who must rise up and act if the party is to be saved.

Kakande, who was speaking to Nile Post said, "those in DP now need to reflect".

"If they feel they should not follow their leader who's working for president Museveni, they then should chase him," he added

DP member Lubega Mukaaku questioned the decisions made by the NEC meeting whose authority he says have since been challenged in courts of law.

"Until when the membership sits to rejuvenate and bring forward a new leadership, that's the leadership that will speak for and act on behalf of DP," Mukaaku.
