Among insists ministers deliver human rights report

Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among has summoned all security ministers and third deputy prime minister Rukia Nakadama ahead of the long awaited government statement on the 18 missing persons.

In yesterday' plenary session, Anita reminded government to honor their commitment to submit the report after expiry of 7 days extension they had earlier requested from speaker.

In her opening remarks, Anita directed government to submit the report today of the 18 missing persons which led to opposition boycotting plenary sittings since the mid October.

Whereas 3rd deputy prime minister Rukia Nakadama assured the house yesterday that government is committed to table the report today, Vice president Jesica Alupo begged parliament to accept what the minister will present.

Alupo said, "Yesterday H.E. President Kaguta Museveni himself highlighted that the government through responsible ministries departments and agencies should expeditiously handle the matter raised and it was discussed in cabinet. This issue is being handled professional and we request for due deligency to allow the team do it's work".

Eversince opposition demanded for the report, there has been unfolding of events between opposition and parliamentary leadership as speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among threatened to evoke rule 112 (6) of rules of procedure.

Among is currently holed up in a closed door meeting with Security minister General David Muhoozi, Rukia Nakadama and deputy attorney general Jackson Kafuuzi.
