Kyakulaga warns politicians against misuse of government resources

The Minister of State for Agriculture , Kyakulaga Fred Bwino has warned politicians against the misuse of government resources particularly government vehicles and motorcycles during political seasons.

Kyakulaga made  the remarks while handing over 22 motorcycles to extension workers in the four districts of Isingiro , Kanungu , Lamwo and Lira at the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) headquarters in Entebbe.

The initiative is part of the Irrigation for Climate Resilience Project that is being implemented in the stated districts to boost agriculture , a project supported by MAAIF in coordination with the Ministry of Water and Environment.

This initiative supports the shift towards more resilient agriculture by enhancing sustainable irrigation services.

According to the minister , the transport equipments are only intended to ease the work of production officers with in the respective districts to reach out to the population as well as farmers.

“There’s no excuse now for not reaching out to the population for the people utilization of irrigation projects coming up in their areas” the minister added.

He added , “I strongly caution the extension workers and politicians against the Misuse of these motorcycles. These are not for political mobilization, use them for the intended purpose”

Nkwasibwe Godwin, District Production Officer , Kanungu said the support is timely citing that the four districts have been facing transport issues, welcoming the idea of government motorcycles.

“We are going to ensure these motorcycles are handed over to specific officers who play a big role in highly production activities to avoid misuse of resources” Nkwasibwe stated.
