In his most influential Work 'An Introduction to the Principles of Morals and Legislation’ published in 1789, Jeremy Bentham an English Jurist came up with the Utilitarian theory which is one of the profound modern ethical theories.
His theory centred on the idea that actions are morally right if they tend to promote happiness or pleasure, and wrong if they tend to produce unhappiness or pain. Bentham's philosophy aims to maximise overall happiness and minimise suffering for the largest number of people affected by an action or policy.
236 years ago, many would affirm Bentham was a visionary who looked into the future and foresaw the 21st century!
The ball is no longer for the Genz but all age brackets despite status making CGS and Meat Selling [Prostitution] a norm for soft life treatment [luxury living] across all genders!
The Luxury;
Hitting any Kampala recreation grounds, would leave you questioning if your still in the country, from the Posh rides to lavish spending, stupefying residences (Air BnB, Apartments and Palaces) and daily updates on different social media platforms, one can fail to locate the exact jobs that many do, with captions like small girl big God, King/Queen of Soft Life etc
The Misery;
Many would agree with me, Bentham Spring boarded the sexual revolution, which primarily occurred in the 1960s and 70s, a period of significant societal shifts in attitudes and behaviours related to sex and sexuality.
Gone are the days where a child was a treasure of a home, in 2025 parents use their daughters as baits/traps for greedy Alpha males who they later extract money from in the demise of attempt to rape or defilement.
The skyrocketing level of single parenthood especially for women resulting into single mothers, aged 18-35 with a rate rising from 20% to 30%, according to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics 2024 report, is worrying for the Ugandan family structure; as many ventured into CGS for survival and became pregnant to absentee fathers.
In my article published in the Nile Post, titled, Meat Selling; A new normal for the Genz, I highlighted that Gen Z’s adoption of new terminologies like ‘escorts and embraced technology, meat selling has become a new normal!
As they take advantage of their enormous social media following, many are leaking their own nude videos and pictures, sending them to prospective clients, using dating apps like Tinder, Tan Tan, Badoo, OkCupid, Bumble, Hinge etc; to fund the luxury.
Despite gender, a few bold ones take a step further to creating Only fans, and strip chat accounts [pornographic channels], along other websites that would connect them to potential clients, yet others have ventured into pornographic acting not mentioning those vying into homosexuality for the luxury, a story for another day!
With an 80.6% literacy level and a 2.80% unemployment rate, many elites have normalised CGS and Meat selling, does this explain the 5.1% HIV prevalence rate and new infections of 38,000 with AIDS- related deaths at 19,000 as of 2024 according to Uganda AIDS Commission.
The Trump-USAID saga that led to the cut of aid that funded the delivery of ARVs and preventive medicines like Prep and Pep with other medical supplies and support, places our hopes in only the Lord’s prayer.
Pallaso’s song titled, Ffetuliko ku guno omulembe loosely translated as this is our generation justifies my argument that it is a sad generation with happy pictures!
