Suppliers demand Shs 33 billion from police force

A group of people who supply food items to Uganda Police Force  have vowed not to supply food again to the force over accumulated arrears.

Its understood that the members of the association are demanding the force over Shs 33 billion dating back in 2015.

The suppliers association members came up to the conclusion in meeting that was held on Tuesday in Kampala which was spear headed by chairman Badru Kisitu.

"We are demanding a lot of money from the police force which is about to a tune of Shs 33 billion since 2015. But all the time we are just tossed up and down", Kisitu said.

He added saying that, "we are not going to supply food to the force again until the force clears its debt".

The announcement came hot on the heels of IGP's Kale Kayihura's declaration this week that the force was cash-strapped. Kayihura said at a police council meeting that the Uganda Police Force was choking on a debt of Shs 125 billion.
