Use the lent season to acknowledge your weakness before God, Christians urged

The parish priest of Christ the King catholic church in Kampala city Msgr. Gerard Kalumba, has urged christians to tear their hearts before God and not their garments during this Lenten period.

Kalumba made the statement during his homily to celebrate Ash Wednesday, which also marks as the beginning of lent in catholic and Anglican faith.

To Christians Ash Wednesday starts by imposing ashes on the foreheads, and the ashes symbolise the weakness of humanity, this Msgr.Kalumba reminded Christians that they have to know how weak they are and repent to God.

"Man and Woman remember that you are dust and unto dust you shall return. Or repent and believe the gospel,” he said.

"As Christians commemorate Ash Wednesday and the Lenten season in which the mercy of God tears our hearts for conversion and rewards us with integrity and humanity, return to God with weeping and with mourning and tear your hearts and not garment," he added.
