COVID-19: Health Ministry to announce new SOPs as country enters stage four of pandemic

The Ministry of Health is set to announce additional Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs) as the country enters stage four of the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to Senior Public Relations officer in the Ministry of Health, Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the Health Minister Dr. Ruth Aceng will announce the new measures on Wednesday.

Ainebyoona said in a tweet that the Ministers speech will be live on all TVs and Radios.

Minister for ICT and National Guidance Judith Nabakooba on Monday said that the country is now receiving various community infections that are almost impossible to trace which puts the country at risk.

"Now that Uganda has entered this critical phase, the Ministry of Health is preparing to announce a series of measures that the country will follow in order to keep safe," Nabakooba said.

Nabakooba however added that government decided against another lockdown as that will not viable at such a time.

Uganda currently has 7,777 cumulative cases of COVID-19, with 4,033 recoveries and 75 fatalities.
