IGP Ochola transfers over 70 commanders in latest Police changes
The Inspector General of Police, John Martins Okoth Ochola has made several changes in the commanding structure of the Uganda Police Force.
According to the changes that take immediate effect, Senior Superintendent of Police Rose Nahyuha Helen who has just completed training at Police Senior Command and Staff College in Bwebajja, Wakiso district along Entebe road has been appointed as the acting police commander for the department of women affairs.

In other changes, Senior Superintendent of Police, Paul Kakamba who has been the Kampala South Regional Police Commander has been sent to Entebbe Airport as the Chief Joint Security Officer in a transfer that has seen him swap positions with Assistant Commissioner of Police, James Ruhweza who has replaced him in Kampala South as RPC.
The transfers have also seen Senior Superintendent of Police, Caroline Akoth moves from Savannah region where she served as the Regional Police Commander to Railway Police as the new commandant to replace Assistant Commissioner of Police Muluya who has been sent to Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Mbarara as a security officer.
Akoth has been replaced by Senior Superintendent of Police, Suzan Edith Nalwoga who had just completed a course.
IGP Ochola has also appointed Superintendent of Police, Charles Nsaba who has just completed a course at Bwebajja as the new deputy Regional Police Commander for Kampala North whereas Superintendent of Police, Benson Byaruhanga Mworozi who had just completed a course will now assume office as the new Katwe Divisional Police Commander.
The position was until recently, occupied by Superintendent of Police David Epedu who is currently facing charges related to neglect of duty over the controversial demolition of St.Peter’s Church Ndeeba in Lubaga division, Kampala.
“The decision (to transfer) impacts on various offices including heads of departments, Regional Police commanders, District Police Commanders and others. The officers are tasked with ensuring professional and efficient delivery of all police services in their area of jurisdiction. These transfers are normal and take immediate effect,” deputy Police spokesperson, Polly Namaye said of the changes.
