Tanga Odoi: Museveni uses donations not state money while rendering financial help

The chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi has said that President Museveni only uses friendly-source or donations and not state money when extending financial help to individuals, organizations and communities.

Museveni's cash handouts, also known as presidential handshakes, have for long been a thought provoking ritual mostly to the members of the opposition who accuse the president of using state money to buy support.

Appearing on NBS Television's Morning Breeze, Odoi said the president has never used state money in his private endeavors.

"NRM does not use state money. NRM uses friendly-source money (donations)" Odoi said in part.

Odoi said that Uganda is a democracy and President Museveni endeavors to follow the the law in all that he does.

He said the current national Electoral Commission that will conduct the elections in 2021 is the best he has ever seen.

Odoi advised presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine to abide by the law and play within the rules if he wants to be allowed to hold his events without having running battles with the police.
